Nov 20 07 Training.
well the update wasn't done on the exact day but I remember as if it happened yesterday. We were instructed by coach CHE this time around in some grappling moves. Some of the basic exercise that we did included running around the mat a few times, Lifting our knees, raising our feet to our butt, side stepping facing inward and outward. We also did a few sprint as well. Being my first class everything that coach showed us as a class was new to me. He showed me how to lunge towards an opponent, and how to do a basic take down, as well as a few training drills on how to block yourself from oncoming attackers. This class I felt that I gave it my all. I wasn't able to go through the entire class with all drills but I did most of them myself. Worked so hard I ended up throwing up after class. Very good class / instructor.

First training lesson.
Today was the day that I began my slow career as I'm going to call it in M.M.A. At 8 pm I had an appointment to meet up with one of the instructors at the academy to being my first lesson ever taken in mixed martial arts. The instructor that was to give our class had an emergency and could not attend so he was filled by Coach Marcos.
At first glance you see Marcos and would never think that he was one of the part owners of the gym. At second glance you wouldn't even think he ever stepped foot in the ring as an actual combatant. Boy does that all go away when he steps into the ring. Coach started us off showing us around the actual gym telling us a little information here and there. When it got down to the nitty gritty he started us off showing us briefly about boxing.
The jab which is one of the most important punches was shown to us first followed by the straight, hook, and upper cut. He reinforced the fact that we had to keep our elbows in, hands up, guard our face and all in all the general characteristics of a general boxing fight. After about 20 30 minutes of our first training session he moved onto the next one. When the grappling began he started showing us our first move called the guillatine(sp?). We then learned paint the brush, how to escape different positions and how to submit in different styles.
When we were done with our private lesson he had us do a physical assessment test that tested our current physical condition. after doing 60 pushups, 33 situps, reaching 14 inches, and doing 20 bojangles or whatever he called he had us take a break and drink some gatorade which he so kindly purchased for us.
As for MMA training that was all for the day. Spending all the time in the ring learning different moves I've never done before i figured out this was something I wanted to do. I ended up signing up for a 6 month contract just to see. Hell the worse that can happen is I loose out of some money. whatever.

MMA Newbie
Welcome to the house of the M.M.A. Newbie. M.M.A. stands for Mixed Martial Arts. I'm typing this at 12:36am on November 15, which I consider the 14. Today I woke up in the morning deciding that I wanted to change my physical apperaence and just learn a little bit more of self defense. After waking up I went to sports authority and bought a jump rope so that I could start jumping rope ( was told this is a good work out and it helps you with your coordination ). When I got home I started jumping rope and decided that I wanted to do something more then just this, thats when I started looking up M.M.A.
Countless hours passed and I finally found this gym online that provided the facilities with classes in what I wanted. The name of the gym I'm going to start going to is called Freestyle Fitness Academy. When I arrived there I was greeted by a guy named Gus. Gus it seems is one of the instructors there. Gus is not your typical looking fighter. Regular size, not bruised up, and ordinary are some of his characteristics. Nothing that would scream out to you as a human deadly assassin. Either way he showed me around the facility and told me that I would have to come back tomorrow (today but at 8pm) to get a test session so that I could find out of this is what I'm looking for. The prices of this gym are pretty steep.
First 30 days are "free". that entitles you to use the facility 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Only allows you to go to 2 classes a week though. not too bad when you want to learn about the sport either way.
Plan 1: First month free, down payment of $194 with a six month contract of 154 monthly. $52 dollar discount
Plan 2: Two payments of $499 with. - $104 Discount
Plan 3: One payment of $937 - $173 Discount
Plan 4: One payment of $1342 and that includes 5 private lessions (200 per lesson regular price). -$303 Discount.
No Contract: 195 a month.
I'm going to bed. Let me get some rest because I'm going to try to give it my all on the first day.
